PCF (PAP Community Foundation) is testing a new teaching method to help its youngsters get ready for primary school. It launched an experimental learning centre called Kidz Haven at Boon Lay. The children enrolled there will be the first to experience the teaching method which is developing learning skills through play and hands-on approach in new rooms the school has created. There is now a dedicated art room, gym, drama studio and kitchen among other things. Experiental learning is already being encouraged at primary and secondary levels as schools move away from learning by memorisation. In my opinion, i definitely agree with the new teaching method. Students learn better with more hand-on activities because it keeps them active. They will tend to get bored if the lessons were mundane. The youngsters who are enrolled with this experience will definitely benefit a lot.
