CHILE QUAKE. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35615455/ns/world_news-chile_earthquake/#storyContinued first the Haiti quake and now, the Chile quake. Natural disasters have been occurring for this past few months. the death toll for these disaster is uncountable by fingers. the death toll had increased to 708 ( updated). CONCEPCION is the worst of all, as the death toll is doubled from estimated on Saturday night. Thousands of people have to survive two nights without drinking water, electricity or working toilets. Many had suffered a lot because of this terrible 8.8 magnitude quake. President Michelle Bachelet said Chile needs field hospitals and temporary bridges, water purification plants and damage assessment experts, as well as rescuers to help relieve workers who have been laboring frantically for more than a day. It's sad, but because of the situation you have to confront the robberies and at the same time continue the search," Guerra said. as the country is in trouble, nobody will tend their stalls and supermarket, allowing the looters to have a chance to take anything they want from the marts. police have to double their workload to help searching for survivors and nabbing the looters. Things dint get better when a tsunami crashed into Chile an hour after the quake. Of the earthquake’s 723 victims, most were in the wine-growing Maule region that includes Talcahuano, now a mud-caked, ravaged town of 180,000 just north of Concepcion. Close to 80 percent of Talcahuano’s residents are now homeless. People got to sleep on the streets until their house is rebuild or there’s a temporary shelter for them. Many are still traumatized after the two disasters.I think that people shouldn’t be looting just because there are no shopkeepers there. Cause one can affect others. When they loot, others will start to follow them because they think that it is OK. The government should give the people foods and shelter too, of course, with the help of other countries. As a earthling, we helped Haiti, so why can’t we just help Chile too? I am sure that if the people there got their foods and shelter, they won’t loot anymore. Many loot because they have to support their childrens of family members. Everybody could just give them a helping hand, to make their lives better. Especially Singaporeans, as we are one of the safest country to be “shield” from the natural disaster, therefore, we must do our best to help the others!
